Mr. Schmitt’s career spans over four decades working with some of the greatest artists of the 20th century. He has received 28 Grammy nominations and was awarded 16 Grammys for Best Engineering work on albums with Ray Charles, Henry Mancini, Steely Dan, Toto, Natalie Cole, Quincy Jones, Luis Miguel, and Diana Krall, to name just a few. Mr. Schmitt also engineered and produced one of the final recordings of Sam Cooke “Sam Cooke at the Copa.” Mr. Schmitt’s engineering and mixing skills are showcased on over 150 gold and platinum albums. The number of sessions Mr. Schmitt has been involved in could fill an encyclopedia. He was a 1997 inductee into the Technical Excellence and Creativity Awards Hall of Fame, and most has most recently won 4 Grammys for his work on Ray Charles’ “Genius Loves Company.”
