BEVERLY HILLS, CA -- 12/19/2005 -- Award-winning director Amit Gupta has signed with Artist International's Literary Division, as announced today by Hollywood Studios International CEO Steven Saxton. Gupta is an award-winning director of commercials, music videos, and narrative films. His regional spot for Lori's Diner won a Telly Award in 2004, airing on ESPN, TNT, TBS and Sci- Fi. His commercials for the San Francisco Public Library won directing awards at the 2005 Academy of Art Annual Spring Show for best commercial and best sound design.
Gupta will be represented by Joel Newton in the Los Angeles office while Rob Webb will pursue opportunities for Gupta on Madison Avenue in the company's New York Office.
"One exciting factor with Amit is the ability of our team, from Dubai to New York to LA, to work together and maximize our ability to build Amit's career. His versatility allows our team to pursue commercials, music videos, television and film simultaneously," said Newton.
Gupta's children's fantasy/adventure film, "The Guardian's Gateway," hits the global festival circuit in 2006. He is also in pre-production on a string of music videos and a feature film, in addition to a children's television show that will air nationwide in India.
Born in India, Gupta's life experience on multiple continents has successfully informed the global nature of his career.
"It's such a perfect fit for us as a company," said Newton, "with Amit being a truly international artist. We expect to see Amit directing commercials in New York, features in Los Angeles and Dubai, and television programming in India -- all in 2006."
Graduating from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Amit earned his MFA in Motion Pictures, and served as the Graduate Student Representative of the Motion Picture and Television department. He and his wife Anna reside in San Francisco where he works as a director, producer and founder of The Refuge, a visual effects boutique.
