LA HORA CERO (The Zero Hour) will debut at Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival

One of the most acclaimed feature films in the history of Venezuelan cinema has finally arrived in the United States. LA HORA CERO (THE ZERO HOUR), directed by rising star Diego Velasco and written by Carolina Paiz (both represented by Artist International Management) will make its U.S. bow at the Los Angeles International Latino Film Festival on Tuesday, July 19, at 7:15 p.m. at the Egyptian Theater (6712 Hollywood Boulevard). The film is represented internationally by HSI Films, a subsidiary of Hollywood Studios International.

In the last year, LA HORA CERO has won numerous awards in Venezuela for directing, editing, acting, and best feature at the 2010 Festival de Merida in Venezuela, among other accolades. It has also earned rave reviews throughout Latin America and, in fact, recently became the highest-grossing Venezuelan film ever. The action-thriller was produced by Carolina Paiz and Rodolfo Cova, and stars acclaimed hip-hop star Zapata 666 in his first acting role. (Zapata 666, in fact, will be attending the Egyptian Theater screening on July 19.) The movie marks the full-length feature directing debut of Velasco, who is well known in Venezuela for award-winning short films, TV directing and cinematography, and documentary work.

Steven Saxton, CEO of Hollywood Studios International and a co-executive producer on the film, said of the film:

“ZERO HOUR is truly a great piece of filmmaking. We are very proud of the filmmakers and encourage everyone to see this film at the Latino International Film Festival.” Saxton also remarked, “This film is worthy of a major audience and we are committed to finding a U.S. distributor.”
