HSI Films to Handle Foreign Sales for Carnaval

LOS ANGELES, CA – October 20th, 2011 – HSI FIlms To Handle Foreign Sales For Josh Stern Directed, John Cusak and Johnny Knoxville Comedy, CARNAVAL

John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville are teamed up and ready to party in Carnaval, a comedy directed by Joshua Michael Stern. Hollywood Studios International’s foreign sales division, HSI Films, will be selling the foreign rights to Carnaval at next month’s American Film Market. The movie will shoot in Rio this January (2012).

Cusack will play a sports scout who is sent to Rio de Janeiro during Carnaval. His mission is to recruit the world’s best soccer player. If he signs the star, he will inherit the agency. Johnny Knoxville plays his best friend, a musician who joins the scout and has an affair with a woman who turns out to be the player’s girlfriend, which throws a major complication into the plan.

Stone Village is producing and financing. The company’s Scott Steindorff, Dylan Russell and Scott LaStaiti serve as producers. HSI CEO Steven Saxton will serve as an Executive Producer.

Former agent David Styne wrote the initial script, which was rewritten by Stern. (Styne is also serving as a producer.)

The CAA-repped Cusack will be seen as Edgar Allan Poe in the thriller The Raven, set for a March 9 release. Johnny Knoxville who is also repped by CAA, has just begun shooting Last Stand with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
